Vol. 76 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Roscommon County Home.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if his Department has yet come to a decision on the proposal of the Roscommon County Board of Health to reconstruct portion of the county home at Roscommon.

The reply is in the negative.

Mr. Brennan

Is the Minister aware that in the county home at Roscommon, in which there are no less than 50 patients, some of them maternity patients, there is only the one lavatory available for them? That is the only accommodation available for them. The position there was reported to the Minister's Department over two years' ago.

The conditions that the Deputy refers to are there longer than two years.

Mr. Brennan

Does the Minister wish them to continue longer?

No. The Minister is more active than the Deputy in trying to get them remedied.

Mr. Brennan

Thanks very much, but it does not appear so. Is the Minister prepared to send down one of his officers to get another up-to-date report on the conditions prevailing in the county home at Roscommon?
