Vol. 76 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Subsidising of Land Drainage.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will make known at an early date the terms on which he proposes to subsidise land drainage and reclamation work according to his announcement a few weeks ago at a meeting of the New Ross Fianna Fáil Comhairle Ceanntair, if he is aware that farmers who are anxious to increase the productivity of their land and who are in a position to avail of any such scheme require time to make arrangements to start such work after the harvest and thus avoid the laying off of their labourers who may otherwise be kept on.

On the subject of the Deputy's question, I am not yet in a position to say more than that the details of a land reclamation scheme are at present under consideration.

I hope that when you do get going you will come to us first.
