Vol. 77 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Exchange of Irish Notes for Foreign Securities.

asked the Minister for Finance whether the Currency Commission are prepared to facilitate Irish citizens who desire to exchange Irish legal tender notes into (a) dollars, (b) other foreign securities; and, if so, whether it is now the practice of the Currency Commission to place a limit on such facilities, and if he will state what this limit is.

The powers conferred by law on the Currency Commission do not include the exchange of legal tender notes into dollars or foreign securities. The second part of the question does not, therefore, arise.
