Vol. 77 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Motor Insurance.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that, in view of the decreased mileage covered by motorists consequent on the operation of the petrol rationing scheme in Great Britain, certain British insurance companies have considerably reduced the cost of motor insurance premiums to motorists there; and, if so, whether he is prepared to make representations to Irish insurance companies to grant similar concessions to owners of motor vehicles in this country.

I have no information as to any such arrangements made by insurance companies in Great Britain. I do not propose, at this stage, to make representations to the Irish insurance companies in this matter.
