Vol. 77 No. 7

Written Answers. - The Meath Gaeltacht Colonies.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that a certain group of migrants from the Rathcarne and Lambay Gaeltacht Colonies in County Meath have repeatedly created ugly scenes in the town of Athboy by fighting and using bad language and threatening the lives of local residents, and whether, in view of their repeatedly very bad behaviour, he will see that extra guards are stationed in the vicinity of the colonies for the purpose of protecting the lives and properties of the local residents and the better enforcement of the law.

I am aware that on a few occasions members of the Gaeltacht Colonies caused disorderly scenes in the town of Athboy, but I am satisfied that the Gárdaí in the district are enforcing the law properly and are in a position to deal with any situation which may arise.
