asked the Minister for Justice if he will state the number of persons arrested under the Offences Against the State Act, 1939, subsequent to the 1st September, 1939, the number of such persons now in custody and untried, the number of such untried persons incarcerated in each place of internment, the conditions under which they are interned, the number of visits to which such internees are entitled per month, and the persons who are entitled to visit such internees under the prison regulations.

Mr. Boland

One hundred and sixteen persons have been arrested under the Offences Against the State Act, 1939. Sixty-two persons are at present interned in Arbour Hill Detention Barracks. Three others are in custody in Mountjoy Prison awaiting trial. The treatment of persons under detention in military custody is governed by regulations made by the Minister for Defence. I am sending the Deputy a copy of these regulations.
