Dáil Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 21 Feb 1940

Vol. 78 No. 12

Death of a Deputy.

Deputies will have learned, with great regret, of the death of Deputy Denis Gorey. Deputy Gorey was an extensive farmer, well known for his practical interest in athletics and sport. During his many years of membership of the Dáil he devoted himself assiduously to his duties as a public representative, and his contributions to debate, particularly on agriculture and forestry, were always stimulating and helpful. His death removes a familiar and popular figure from our public life. I ask you, A Chinn Comhairle, to convey to the late Deputy's widow and family the sincere sympathy of Dáil Eireann.

Deputies rose in their places.
