Vol. 79 No. 9

Seeds and Fertilisers Supply Bill, 1940—Report and Final Stages.

Question—"That the Bill be received for final consideration"—put, and agreed to.
Question proposed: "That the Bill do now pass."

Mr. Brennan

At some stage when this Bill was before the House, Deputy Belton suggested that there should be a consultation with the Minister about some points that he raised and that he considered were not met. The Minister then said that he would be satisfied to consult the Deputy. I do not know what happened at the consultation.

I met Deputy Belton and Mr. Early, solicitor to the county council. Deputy Belton was under the impression that rates took priority over other debts. That is not so, and when the Deputy heard that, he said he had no further interest in the matter.

Mr. Brennan

Did he not raise a point about giving authority to councils to lend money?

He made some point like that in the House, but he did not make it when he came to see me.

Question put and agreed to.
