Vol. 79 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Assistance Claim.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether he has received a claim for unemployment assistance benefit from Mr. Thomas Hayes, 6 Lennon's Cottages, Merrion, Dublin, and if he will state the cause of the delay in paying unemployment assistance benefit to this applicant.

An application for unemployment assistance has been received from Mr. Hayes. Payment of unemployment assistance cannot be made on the application pending recovery of an amount which Mr. Hayes previously received and to which he was not entitled.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary say when this decision will be conveyed to Mr. Hayes, so that he will know precisely where he stands in the matter? He has furnished evidence that he is entitled statutorily under the Act, having worked for the prescribed period in the City of Dublin. Will the Minister say that that information will be conveyed to Mr. Hayes at an early date?
