Vol. 80 No. 16

Order of Business.

The business will be taken in the following order—Items 1 to 3 and 7 to 15 inclusive. Numbers 5 and 6 will be taken in their appropriate places

Will the House sit to-morrow?

Yes, if we cannot finish to-day.

If the business ordered is then finished will the House adjourn until next week?

If it is finished, it will adjourn then for some time.

Until August 7th.

Mr. Brennan

Does the Minister expect to get all Stages of the Bills being introduced to-day?

Mr. Brennan

Including the Acquisition of Derelict Sites Bill?

Mr. Brennan

Is there any urgency about that Bill? I think the proposal for all stages is unprecedented. The Bill is in the right direction, but it is one that will need amendment, and should not be taken in a hurry.

It is a very desirable Bill in the sense that it proposes to deal with the removal of unsightly places in the towns, and if passed would make certain work available under the Unemployment Vote.

As far as I am aware the Bill has not been circulated yet.

It will be circulated to-day.

The title of the Local Authorities (Cost of Living) Bill does not give much information, but it is sufficient to indicate that that Bill will not have an easy passage.

When introducing the Supplementary Budget last year the Tánaiste, when dealing with the position in the Civil Service, indicated that the public services would be dealt with in the same way. This Bill does not affect very many, in fact, only a very limited number in Dublin.

These are bridges that we should cross when we come to them.

I was answering Deputy Morrissey.

I do not think that the Minister is asking for an antecedent guarantee, but is expressing a pious hope to which he must be accustomed.

Is it proposed to take the motion for the Adjournment at the end of to-day's business, and what time will be set aside for discussion of matters to be raised on the Adjournment?

It will be taken some time to-morrow if the business is finished.

I presume it may be taken for granted that the motion for the Adjournment will not be taken this evening.

It will be conditional on the fulfilment of the Minister's pious hope.
