Vol. 81 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Proposed Increase of Pilotage Dues.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he has received proposals from the Dublin, Cork and Waterford harbour authorities for increasing the pilotage dues and, if so, what action he has taken, if any, in each case.

I have received proposals from the three pilotage authorities for an increase in the pilotage rates in their districts. In the case of Cork I confirmed on the 20th March last a by-law to increase the rates by 50 per cent. In the case of Dublin the proposal has been deferred for the present in view of the improved trade at the port. The proposed increase at Waterford is still the subject of discussion with the authority.
