Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment in Cobh.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of unskilled men registered at the local employment exchange at Cobh at mid-July, mid-August, mid-September, mid-October and mid-November, 1940, or the nearest date to such days for which the information is available, and also the number of such persons to whom unemployment assistance was payable.

The numbers of unskilled men registered at Cobh Employment Exchange on the dates specified were as follows:—13th July, 235; 17th August, 211; 21st September, 228; 19th October, 255; 16th November, 232. The numbers of such persons to whom unemployment assistance was paid are not available. The total numbers of men skilled and unskilled who were paid unemployment assistance at this employment exchange in the weeks ended on the dates specified were as follows:—13th July, 262; 17th August, 246; 21st September, 263; 19th October, 272; 16th November, 260.
