Vol. 82 No. 7

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Monthly Trade Statistics.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will furnish to Deputies copies of the monthly trade statistics so as to enable them to ascertain the extent of the import and export of commodities.

It has been decided that it is not in the public interest generally to publish details of this country's trade in imports and exports. Statements are issued in neostyled form each month showing the total values of the trade in imports and exports according to four main groups. Copies of these summaries can be sent to Deputies if required.

Arising out of the Minister's reply, will I be at liberty to quote from them like the Minister?

Well, at least, the Deputy ought not to pretend that the information has not been available to him.
