asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that representations were made to his Department to have the Black Road, Derrybrien, Gort, County Galway, improved with a view to meeting a much-felt need in the district and relieving unemployment; that a grant was made for the repair of this road which grant as instructions were not forthcoming for the execution of the work, subsequently lapsed, and if he will now consider having the said work effected.

The answer to the first part of the question is "Yes". No grant was in fact made for this road, but the proposal has been recorded for consideration on its merits in connection with each employment schemes programme in the light of the unemployment position at the time.
