Vol. 83 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wheat and Flour Supplies.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he is now in a position to say if the cargoes of wheat which he stated recently were en route to this country have yet arrived.

None of the cargoes has yet arrived.

Can the Minister say when he expects them?

I prefer not to say that.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he will state whether the stocks of wheat and flour in the country are adequate to cover fully the needs of the population to the end of August or, if not, whether he is assured of additional supplies for that purpose.

Provided the public continue to respond to my appeals for economy in the consumption of flour and bread, I anticipate that the present stocks will last until the next harvest. There is no assurance of additional supplies being received in this country in the immediate future.
