Vol. 83 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Newspaper Tax.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state what, if any, newspapers printed in County Tyrone or County Derry were liable to newspaper tax in the financial year 1940-41; the amount, if any, received in tax from such newspapers; and whether, since the said tax was imposed, any newspapers printed in the said counties or either of them were liable to this tax or, if any such newspaper was so liable, whether any exemptions from tax were granted to any such newspapers, and, if so, he will state the names of such newspapers and the grounds for such exemptions.

No imported newspaper printed in County Tyrone or County Derry was liable to the Customs duty chargeable on newspapers in the financial year 1940-41, nor at any time since the duty on newspapers was first imposed.
