Vol. 83 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Timber for Fuel.

asked the Minister for Finance if in view of the anticipated shortage of coal in the coming winter he will cause an auction of timber to be held at Moorepark, Kilworth, County Cork, where an ample supply is available for the people of the district.

A limited quantity of decayed and fallen timber has been lotted and is available for disposal at Moorepark. Offers have been invited by local advertisement for the purchase and removal of the various lots. The Commissioners of Public Works are still open to receive offers for such of this timber as remains unsold, but the quantity is too small to justify an auction. It would not be possible without damage to the shelter-belts to engage in further fellings of timber on the estate.
