Vol. 83 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Closing of Tipperary Creamery.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that the Grange creamery, County Tipperary, owing to the lack of a boiler for the pasteurisation of milk, has been closed for some time, and if, in view of the consequent wastage of milk and of the hardship caused to suppliers, he will urge upon the Dairy Disposals Board the urgent necessity for its immediate installation.

I am aware that Grange creamery was closed owing to the very serious disease situation in the area from which its supply of milk is drawn. The capacity of the existing boiler in the creamery is insufficient to supply steam for pasteurising the separated milk and it has not been found possible so far to obtain a larger boiler. Every possible endeavour is being made to secure a suitable boiler.
