Vol. 83 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Thurles Post Office.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state when it is proposed to invite tenders for the reconstruction of Thurles Post Office.

Final plans for the reconstruction of Thurles Post Office have been completed and agreed upon, but it is not yet possible to say when tenders will be invited and a contract placed.

What is the difficulty?

Shortage of building materials and financial stringency.

What is the real difficulty? You will not know whether materials are available or not until you invite tenders.

We have a general idea regarding supplies.

I want to get some precision in the matter. Is the difficulty that the Minister fears that supplies are not available or is it financial stringency?

Timber and money.

Timber reasoning.

When the Minister gets the timber, he will not have the money and, when he has the money, he will not have the timber.
