Vol. 83 No. 18

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business on the Order Paper, Nos. 3, 4 and 5, No. 1 to be taken in its appropriate place.

Yesterday I put categorically to the Tánaiste as to when it was intended to take the Trade Union Bill. The Tánaiste said it was intended to take the Finance Bill to-day, and the Trade Union Bill would therefore remain over until Tuesday. On that assumption we made certain arrangements, and if we were now likely to have to deal with the Trade Union Bill to-day it would be very awkward for us because of the fact that the Tánaiste indicated that it was not likely to be taken until Tuesday. We understood that only the Finance Bill would be taken to-day.

That is what the Minister said.

We are very hopeful.

I can give a perfect assurance that the Minister will not get the Committee Stage of the Finance Bill by 2 o'clock to-day if he insists, in defiance of his assurance yesterday, in ordering the Trade Union Bill.

I stand by the assurance in regard to the Trade Union Bill.

It is off, then?

The Trade Union Bill will not be taken to-day.
