Vol. 84 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - The School Meals Acts.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state whether he has received an application from the appropriate local authority in each case to have the School Meals Acts extended to (a) County Dublin, and (b) South Tipperary, and what action he proposes to take in the matter.

Representations were received from the areas mentioned. It is not proposed to introduce legislation empowering the exten sion of school meals to all rural areas.

Is it proposed to give facilities to have the Acts extended to the two areas in which representation were made?

No. If there was an extension made in one area you might assume that there would be applicaions from other areas.

Is the Department refusing in both cases?
