The nearest date for which checked figures are available is l7th May, on which date the total employed by the county councils was 14,657. A tabular statement showing the division of this number between the counties will be circulated. The number employed by other local authorities is not available. Generally speaking, turf workers working for the county surveyors are paid the same weekly wages as county council road labourers with some variation in hours. The wages paid by other local authorities are not available.
