Vol. 84 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shipments of Fertilisers.

asked the Minister for Supplies if, in view of the fact that he has now made provision to meet some of our shipping requirements, he will immediately examine the possibility of getting cargoes of superphosphate and potassic manures either in America or elsewhere for next season's requirements.

The matter to which the Deputy refers was examined a considerable time ago, but, in view of the pressing demand on the limited tonnage available for grain imports and of the extent of our requirement for superphosphate and potassic manures, I see no immediate prospect of being able to arrange that shipping space will be allocated for the import of these commodities.
