Vol. 84 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin County Borough Elections.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state whether it is proposed to hold an election for the corporation of the County Borough of Dublin this year.

It is not proposed to hold an election this year.

Does that apply to the county council and borough council?

A Bill dealing with elections for these bodies will be before the House to-morrow.

Am I to take it that, so far as the county council is concerned, the matter is still under consideration and that an announcement will be made to-morrow?

That is not so. The matter is not under consideration; it has been decided. The question can be discussed to-morrow when the Bill will be before the House.

I merely wanted to know whether the elections are to be held or not.

The same answer applies to that question as applied to the question on the paper to-day.

The Fianna Fáil Party are quite determined that these elections will not be held for the present.

Has the Minister any prospective date in mind for these elections later than this year?

There was too much chattering of teeth at the Fianna Fáil Party meeting to discuss that.

There seems to be some chattering in the House.
