Vol. 87 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Naas Tea Supplies.

asked the Minister for Supplies whether he has received a complaint regarding the difficulty which persons in Naas are experiencing in obtaining supplies of tea from Mr. Cunningham, grocer, Main Street, Naas, owing to his inadequate supplies, and if he will state what action has been taken in the matter.

I have received representations to the effect that Messrs. J.A. Cunningham and Co., Naas, were not in a position to supply regularly the weekly tea ration of all the householders whom they accepted as registered tea customers. The matter has been examined and, pending further local investigations, provisional sanction has been given for an increase in Messrs. Cunningham's monthly tea quota sufficient to enable them to supply the authorised rations to all their registered customers.

Will the Minister say if that arrangement will continue until the matter is finally adjusted?

It will continue for the present until the further investigations are completed.

May I take it that the persons concerned will have their cards transferred to some other person if it is not possible to continue this arrangement with Messrs. Cunningham?

That is correct.
