Vol. 88 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Soldiers' and Sailors' Tenancies.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is now in a position to state what are his intentions to implement the finding of the Judge Shannon Inquiry into the conditions of tenancy, etc., of the tenants under the control of the Irish Soldiers' and Sailors' Trust, as many cases of hardship have arisen owing to the delay in bringing this matter to a conclusion.

As I indicated in a reply to a similar question earlier in the year, certain discussions have been initiated, and until these have been satisfactorily concluded a decision in regard to the report of the Judge Shannon Committee of Inquiry is not likely to be taken.

Is it likely that the discussions will be concluded before the end of the emergency?

I should say that there is little likelihood that they will be.
