Vol. 89 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sugar Supplies.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he will make arrangements to grant supplies of sugar to hotels, restaurants and boarding-houses in County Dublin who are unable to collect coupons from visitors due to the fact that they are from Northern Ireland and England.

I do not propose to make special supplies of sugar available to hotels, restaurants and boarding-houses, but arrangements are being made for the issue of special ration books to visitors from Northern Ireland and England. As it will take some time to bring these arrangements into operation any such visitor may at present apply to my Department for a sugar permit to cover the period of his stay.
