Vol. 89 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - North Mayo Petrol Allocations.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he will state how many gallons of petrol were supplied during the months of September, October and November, 1942, to licensed private motor lorry owners in the area now suggested to be taken over by the Great Southern Railways in Mayo and Sligo.

The quantity of petrol allocated to licensed private motor lorry owners in the North Mayo scheduled area for the months of September, October and November was 3,000 gallons, 3,346 gallons, and 2,350 gallons respectively.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he will state the monthly ration of petrol it is proposed to allocate to the Great Southern Railways to cover the transfer of service from private owners to the scheduled area in North Mayo and part of Sligo.

Bulk supplies of petrol are made available to the Great Southern Railways for use in the commercial vehicles operated by them over the country as a whole. A provisional increase of 3,000 gallons has been made in the company's allowance for December to provide for issues for use in the North Mayo scheduled area. The company will, in due course, furnish particulars of the petrol required for the maintenance of essential road services in that area.
