Vol. 89 No. 5

Written Answers. - Petrol Allowance for Market Gardener.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he is prepared to issue a permit and small allowance of petrol to Mr. James Fullam, of Tubbertown, Stamullen (Van No. Z 6602), who is a market gardener and fruit farmer, and if he is aware that Mr. Fullam, his two brothers, two sisters and two workmen are all employed on one small farm and that the refusal of a permit and petrol allowance to him will mean that all the people mentioned will be deprived of a livelihood, and a considerable amount of produce will go to the bad.

I have given full consideration to the application of Mr. James Fullam, of Tubbertown, Stamullen, for a permit and petrol allowance for the use of his van, but I regret I am unable to grant his application. I am fully aware of the hardship imposed on many users of motor vehicles through the scarcity of petrol supplies, which has necessitated the withdrawal of allowances hitherto available, and I cannot make an exception in an individual case.
