Vol. 89 No. 5

Written Answers. - Petrol Supply for Haulage Work.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he will state why Mr. John Fitzgerald, of Saggart, County Dublin, received a permit in respect of his lorry (Z.8176) in respect of the months of January, February and March, and no petrol allowance for the month of January and an allowance of only eight gallons of petrol for the month of February; if he is aware that Mr. Fitzgerald is engaged in general haulage work for farmers in the Saggart and Rathcoole area and the distribution of wood fuel and if, in view of this, he is prepared to have Mr. Fitzgerald granted sufficient supplies of petrol to enable him to continue his business and make a livelihood for his wife and six children.

The only application for petrol made this year by the vehicle owner in question was received in the Department on the 25th January and a licence to purchase sufficient petrol to do the haulage set out in the application was issued. It will be necessary for him to give further information as to the nature of the haulage work on which he is engaged before a further licence can be issued to him.
