Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Beet Production Statistics.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state in relation to sugar beet production: (a) the price fixed by the Government for the seasons 1941-42, 1942-43, and 1943-44; (b) the total acreage produced in the seasons 1941-42 and 1942-43; (c) the quantity and analysis of artificial manure per acre made available for the crop for the seasons 1940-41, 1941-42 and 1942-43; (d) the average yield per acre of washed beet delivered to the factories since the inception of the industry up to and including the season 1941-42; (e) the average sugar content for the same period; (f) the average yield per acre of washed beet delivered to the four factories for the season 1942-43; (g) the average sugar content for the season 1942-43; (h) the acreage and percentage in the season 1942-43 where complete failure of the crop occurred; (i) the average yield for the season 1942-43 calculated on the original acreage sown; (j) the percentage of total failure of the crop in the season 1941-42; and (k) the average yield for the season 1941-42 calculated on the original acreage sown.

Many of the particulars asked for in this question concern matters which fall outside the functions of my Department, but I am prepared to obtain the information sought by the Deputy, in so far as it is available, and will communicate with him later.
