Vol. 89 No. 7

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business as on the Order Paper, Nos. 2 to 5, inclusive, then No. 14, then Nos. 6 to 10, inclusive. Private Deputies' business will be taken at 8 o'clock, or earlier if the business as ordered has been completed.

Has the Tánaiste given any consideration to the suggestion to set aside a day for the purpose of trying to dispose of Private Members' motions before the end of this month? That is a reasonable time.

We could not dispose of them in a day, I think.

It has been suggested by some Deputies that the present procedure is unsatisfactory, as it would be impossible to dispose of one motion inside a couple of weeks.

If the business ordered is completed earlier, we will take the motions earlier.

At what time is it proposed to rise this evening? Surely the Tánaiste knows that the buses now cease to run at 9.30 p.m.?

That is so.

Has time been allocated to deal with No. 8 on the special Order Paper—the motion dealing with the annulment of the Tillage Order?

In all probability, the business ordered to-day will be completed before 8 o'clock, and the remainder of the time will be devoted to private business. I am sure the greater part of to-morrow will be available for that purpose also. As the motion regarding the Tillage Order —in the names of Deputies Belton and Cogan—is a matter about which there may be some urgency, the House will be asked to give priority to it to-morrow.

Is it proposed that the House sit next week?

Shall we sit next week?

Are we to understand that, when public business is finished to-morrow, time will be given for Private Deputies' business?

Thank you.
