Vol. 89 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supplies of Sugar.

Mr. Byrne

asked the Minister for Supplies if, in view of the scarcity of sugar for jam-making and the preserving of fruit, and the inadequacy of the present ration for household use, he will make the necessary arrangements to import sugar cane or sugar that will satisfy the requirements of the public.

Arrangements were put in train some considerable time ago for the purchase of raw sugar overseas, and I hope it will be found possible to provide for the shipment of the sugar to this country during the present year.
