Vol. 89 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Paraffin Supplies for Country Public Houses.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he will allow paraffin oil to licensed houses in the country to carry on their business; and whether he is aware of the great inconvenience caused to members of the licensed trade due to the fact that they have no light to carry on.

Owing to the inadequacy of the supplies of kerosene available for distribution in 1943 to meet minimum essential requirements of agriculture and industry, it has been necessary to suspend, as from the 1st March, further issues for domestic lighting, including special allowances granted for use on licensed premises. I am aware that this suspension has caused inconvenience generally to users of kerosene, but I regret that I am unable to exempt owners of licensed premises from the general suspension.
