Vol. 89 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Workmen's Compensation Act.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he intends amending the Workmen's Compensation Act; and, if so, when he proposes introducing proposals for that purpose.

I do not intend at present to introduce legislation to amend generally the Workmen's Compensation Act, 1934. As I informed the Deputy previously, the question of increasing, during the emergency, the maximum amount payable as weekly compensation in cases of total incapacity is under consideration, and I hope to be in a position to make an early announcement in the matter.
