Vol. 89 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flooding of Mayo Road.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that a section of the road leading from the main Neale road to the village of Muckersaune in County Mayo is constantly flooded to the depth of three or four feet for a period of from three to five months each year; whether he is aware that the road in question is the only means of access to the main road, to the church and to the schools available to the 14 families living in Muckersaune and whether, in view of the hardships inflicted on these families by the flooding of the road mentioned, he will take steps to ensure that it will be put into a proper state of repair.

No representations have been made to my Department in regard to the condition of this road. I have, however, made inquiries and have been informed that portion of the road referred to is subject to flooding. I have also ascertained that provision is included in the county council estimates, 1943-44, for remedying this defect.
