Vol. 89 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Treatment of the Blind.

Mr. Byrne

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he has received a memorial from Joseph Browne, of the Outdoor Blind Persons' Association, 33 Gardiner's Place, Dublin, applying for early consideration of the claims of blind persons for improved conditions; and, if so, if he will say whether proposals for the better treatment of the blind and partially blind will be considered at an early date.

A communication was received on the 15th instant and is receiving consideration. I have no further information to convey to the Deputy beyond that given in reply to his previous questions.

Mr. Byrne

Has the Parliamentary Secretary given consideration to the new representations that have been put forward on behalf of the blind about the increased cost of living and the totally inadequate allowances that they are in receipt of?

A communication was received on the 15th instant, and is receiving consideration.
