Vol. 89 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rearrangement of Mayo Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will take immediate steps to have a scheme prepared for the rearrangement of the D.G. Fitzgerald estate, County Mayo, and whether he will arrange that at least one or two of the small holders in the Drunganagh area will be migrated from there as it would facilitate the rearrangement of these townlands; and whether he is aware that Mr. Thomas Rowland, Drunganagh, has expressed his willingness to accept a holding in the Midlands.

Owing to the emergency conditions, the Land Commission are not in a position to carry out an immediate rearrangement of the remaining holdings on the D. G. Fitzgerald estate, but the matter is noted for attention as soon as circumstances permit. Some migration from this estate has already been effected and the possibility of migrating further tenants is under consideration. The Land Commission are aware that Mr. Thomas Rowland (with several other tenants) has expressed his willingness to accept a holding in the Midlands and his case (with others) is being considered under the Group Migration Scheme.
