Vol. 89 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing on County Dublin Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that five of the allottees on the Joyce estate, Ballybrack, Glencullen, County Dublin, are living in dilapidated houses which have been condemned and are unfit for human habitation; and if he is prepared to have five new farm houses erected for these tenants, or to grant each tenant a loan and free grant sufficient to enable them to erect houses.

The five parties referred to in the Deputy's question appear to be not allottees but tenants of holdings on the Joyce estate vested in the Land Commission as tenanted land under the Land Acts, 1923-39. The question of rearrangement of the holdings comprised in the entire estate, and of general improvement thereof, including housing, will be considered by the Land Commission when circumstances permit.
