Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pension for Discharged Soldier.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that Mr. James McCann served as a private (No. 401722) in the 14th Infantry Battalion,"C" Company of the National Army from the 9th July, 1940, to the 20th June, 1942, and was on the latter date discharged as medically unfit for Army service; and whether the Minister will state whether Mr. McCann will be awarded a pension.

I am aware that No. 401722, Private James McCann, 14th Infantry Battalion, served in the Defence Forces from the 9th July, 1940, to the 20th June, 1942, and that he was discharged on the latter date as being medically unfit for Army service. Mr. McCann will be afforded an opportunity of having a claim under the Army Pensions Acts considered if and when the Army Pensions Bill, which was recently introduced, becomes law.
