Vol. 89 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kildare Employment Exchange.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of (a) single men, and (b) married men, who were registered at the employment exchange in Kildare on Saturday, 20th March, or nearest convenient date.

On the 20th March, 1943, there were (a) 63 single men, and (b) 80 married men registered at the branch employment office of this Department at Kildare.

In view of the fact that these persons have been deprived of unemployment assistance benefit, will the Parliamentary Secretary say how they are expected to maintain themselves during the currency of the Order, which prevents their receiving such benefit?

That is a separate question. The Deputy only asked for certain numbers.

It is a very important question for people who are getting no benefit notwithstanding Article 45 of the Constitution.

The Deputy might put down a question.
