Vol. 89 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - International Conference on Agriculture.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he will state whether he has received an invitation from the United States Government to send representatives to a conference on agriculture and cognate problems, to which the State Department has announced it has invited representatives of 30 allied and eight other nations.

The answer is in the negative. No neutral State has, I understand, been invited to the conference in question.

Is the Taoiseach aware that, as well as 30 allied nations, eight other nations have been invited?

Would he give the names of the eight other nations?

The eight nations referred to are, no doubt, certain South American States which have broken off relations with the Axis Powers but which have not so far declared war.

Will the Taoiseach say whether, in view of the importance to this country of world-wide discussions on agriculture and cognate problems, he will ask whether the representatives of this country might attend the conference?
