Vol. 89 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tobacco and Cigarette Issues.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he will state whether an Order has been issued by any Minister or from any Government Department restricting the issue by tobacco manufacturers of cigarettes or manufactured tobacco; and, if so, if he will state by whom and on what authority the Order has been issued, the date of the Order, the nature of the restriction, and the reason for the restriction.

No Order has been made restricting the issue by tobacco manufacturers of cigarettes or manufactured tobacco.

If manufacturers of tobacco in this country say that they did not initiate the restriction of the issue of tobacco, and that it came from a Government Department, will the Minister say that that is incorrect on the part of the manufacturers?

Certainly so. That is the obvious meaning of my reply.
