Vol. 89 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - West Cork Holding.

asked the Minister for Lands whether, having regard to the long period over which the application has been outstanding, he is now in a position to finally determine the question of the sub-tenancy held by Mr. Patrick Hurley on the holding of Mr. Denis Hurley, Plots 4, 4a, 4b, 4c, lands of Inchareigh, Dunmanway, County Cork, Register No. 2, Collection No. F.442/4, estate of Kate Ford and others, Record No. S.5483.

The question of treating the sub-tenancy of Mr. Patrick Hurley as a separate holding in accordance with the provisions of Section 15, Land Act, 1931, has been noted for investigation prior to the revesting of the lands in the person or persons entitled thereto.

It is not possible at present to state when the Land Commission will be in a position to put the investigation in hand. This case is but one of many others claiming attention, and the Land Commission's activities are hampered by shortage of staff due to the present emergency.

I take it that the Minister is aware that this case has been outstanding for nearly 20 years?

Will the Minister inform us now as to the actual state of affairs?
