Vol. 89 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Condition of County Mayo Road.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that the road from Finny Chapel, County Mayo, to Drinn bog, County Galway, is in such a condition that turf cut on this bog cannot be drawn out; and whether he will take the steps necessary to have this road put in a fit condition for the drawing out of turf.

This road was inspected at the end of the 1942 turf-cutting season when its repair was not considered essential to enable the landholders to draw out their turf. The case will again be reviewed on its merits in connection with the 1943 season.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that the people in that neighbourhood cannot draw out their turf with a horse and cart, owing to the condition of the road?

I am not so aware, but the matter will be reviewed on its merits during the 1943 season.
