Vol. 89 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly Sewerage Scheme: Workers' Wages.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has received a complaint on behalf of workers employed on a sewerage scheme at Clara, County Offaly, regarding the delay in giving a decision of the Wages Advisory Tribunal in connection with their application for increased rates of pay, and if he is now in a position to sanction whatever recommendation was submitted to him in this case.

I received from the Deputy a complaint of the nature indicated in the question. As the Deputy has already been informed, no recommendation was submitted by the advisory tribunal referred to who, at the request of the trade union representative, agreed to adjourn the hearing to enable further evidence in the matter to be obtained. A further sitting of the tribunal was arranged for to-day.
