Vol. 89 No. 18

Written Answers. - Income-tax (Schedule A) Returns.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state in respect of the last three years for which the information is available (a) the annual value of the lands, tenements and hereditaments assessed to income-tax under Schedule A; (b) the gross income brought under review for the purpose of this tax; and (c) the tax payable thereon in such year.

I am not quite clear as to the precise information wanted by the Deputy, but I presume that it is the following up-to-date particulars on the lines of Table 116 of the 16th Annual Report of the Revenue Commissioners:—

1939-40

1940-41

1941-42

Total Gross Income assessed to Schedule A.

7,220,200

7,283,400

7,300,000

Actual Income

4,298,400

4,366,500

4,400,000

The figures for 1941-42 are estimates.

I regret that no figures are available to show the tax payable under Schedule A for the various years.

If I have not given the figures required by the Deputy perhaps he would put down another question indicating more precisely the exact information which he requires.
