Vol. 89 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Allocation of Holdings in County Dublin.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state how many people have been allocated holdings during the past 12 months on lands owned by the Land Commission in County Dublin; and if he will state the reasons why these people were granted holdings and other lands in possession of the Land Commission were put up for letting instead of being allocated to deserving local applicants.

It appears from the Land Commission records that three holdings were allotted in County Dublin during the past year.

The number of holdings which the Land Commission are in a position to allot depends on various circumstances such as sufficiency of building and other materials, staff to deal with schemes of allotment and transport facilities. The present emergency conditions restrict the operations of the Land Commission to a great extent.

Lands on hands of the Land Commission which cannot yet be allotted are let seasonably in order to provide income to meet rates and interest payable from the Appointed Day on bonds representing the purchase money of the lands.
