Vol. 90 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Closing of County Dublin Mill.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that the shutting down of Mr. Patrick McNally's mill at Naul, County Dublin, has caused considerable hardship and inconvenience to people residing within a four or five miles radius of Naul who availed of this mill for the purpose of grinding quantities of wheat and bruising oats; and, if so, whether he is prepared to permit the resumption of milling in this mill.

I am not aware that any hardship or inconvenience has been caused to wheat or oat growers in the Naul area by the closing of the mill belonging to Mr. Patrick McNally at Naul, County Dublin, and I am not at present prepared to permit the resumption of milling at this mill. I would remind the Deputy that Mr. McNally does not hold a milling licence or a milling permit and, therefore, the milling of wheat by him would be illegal, even if I permitted the re-opening of the mill.
