Vol. 91 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Allocation of Tractors and Agricultural Machinery.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether on the recent allocation of tractors by his Department, an undertaking in writing was obtained from the allottees that they would let out such machinery on hire in addition to using such machinery on their own land; whether any complaints have been received by his Department that such undertakings have not been honoured in the County of Kildare, and what steps he proposes to take in reference thereto.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative; the other parts of the question do not, therefore, arise.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is able to make any additional allocation of machinery to North Kildare to enable that area to comply with the provisions of the Compulsory Tillage Order.

I regret I am not at present able to make any additional allocation of agricultural machinery to any area.

Would the Minister indicate whether there is any prospect that, by springtime, any further allocation can be made?

I think that the Minister for Supplies has already dealt with that matter. There is a prospect, but we do not know when.
